Right Place, Right Time—God’s Way

“Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near…” (Acts 8:29)

Welcome,

It’s tea time. A moment to slow our breathing, open the Word, and allow His love and truth to do its quiet, faithful work in us.

Would you open your Bible with me and spend a few minutes in Acts chapter 8? Today, I want to focus on Philip and a few simple but powerful lessons from his life.

Take a few minutes to read: Acts 8:26 - 40

Here’s my simple summary of Acts 8:
Philip went down to Samaria—a place despised by the Jews—and faithfully shared Christ. Many believed and were baptized.

Then, at the Lord’s direction, Philip was sent into a desert place. There, he was led to a man reading Isaiah 53. This was no coincidence—it was a divine appointment. As Philip explained the Scripture, the man believed and was baptized.

Immediately after, the Spirit of God carried Philip away to another place of service.

As I reflected on this passage, a few things stood out to me about Philip:

  1. He was abiding in the Lord—ready to serve, listening for His voice, and confident in Who was speaking.

  2. He was flexible and open to God’s leading.

  3. He obeyed immediately, without hesitation or questioning.

  4. He knew the Scriptures and could clearly share the way of salvation.

The result? Philip was exactly where God wanted him, at exactly the right time. His willingness and obedience opened the door for others to hear and receive the gospel.

We might not have the same flexibility Philip had, traveling to other cities or countries to share God’s love and His gift of Salvation. But God still places us in meaningful, everyday settings—at home, in church gatherings, at our workplace, at school, or in our neighborhood. As I reflected on the four points above, some challenging questions came to my heart.

As I considered this, a few questions came to my heart:

  1. Am I flexible with His plan, or holding tightly to my own?

  2. Do I truly want to be used by Him?

  3. Am I abiding in His Word—making space to hear His voice?

  4. When He prompts me, do I respond quickly or hesitate?

  5. Am I prepared to share a simple gospel message from Scripture?

A Quiet prayer:

Loving Father,
I confess that I don’t always listen as I should. Teach me to be still, to recognize Your voice, and to respond with a willing heart. Help me to set aside my plans and follow Yours—quickly and faithfully.

Make me ready, like Philip, to be used for Your glory wherever You place me.

Amen.

Steeped in God’s love, 🌸

Evelyn
